This release gives information on changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the four states – Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap. Appendix 1 contains tables with detailed data for FSM and the four states.
Annual Inflation
Annual inflation for All Groups was recorded at an average rate of 1.3% in the 4th quarter of 2025. This indicates a decline of 2.3 percentage points when compared with the same quarter in 2024, when the rate was 3.6% (Figure 1).
The largest contribution to the annual inflation was The Food and non-alcoholic beverages division which increased in prices by the rate of 1.7% (Figure 3).
In all four states, annual inflation increased for the 4th quarter of 2025 (Figure 2). Kosrae recorded an increase in prices by the rate of 4.6%, which was the highest among the four states. This was followed by Pohnpei which increased in prices by 1.8%, Yap at 0.5% and Chuuk at 0.04%.
The high inflation rate in Kosrae was driven by the increasing prices in the Food and non-alcoholic beverages division which was recorded at 8.9%.
