This release gives information on changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the four states – Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap. Appendix 1 contains tables with detailed data for FSM and the four states.
Annual Inflation
In the 2th quarter of 2025, the annual inflation for All Groups increased to 2.4%. In the same quarter of the previous year the rate was 6.6%, indicating a decrease of 3.8 percentage points (Figure 1).
The Housing, water, electricity, and gas group was the largest contributor to the annual inflation for 2nd quarter of 2025 (Figure 3). The inflation rate for this group is 6.1%. (See Table 3).
Annual inflation rates increased for all the four states in 2nd quarter of 2025 (Figure 2). The highest inflation rate was recorded in Kosrae at 3.7%, followed by Pohnpei at 3.4%, Yap at 2.9% and Chuuk at 0.2%.
The high inflation rate in Kosrae was driven by the increasing prices in the Food and non alcoholic beverages group which was recorded at 7.6%. The low inflation rate in Chuuk is due in part to the change of product suppliers.
